MADA News Column
January 2012
Contracts for Antiques At The Arena ( May 19 & 20 ) will be going out the week of January 9. Please be on the lookout for them. As noted in The Sampler, MADA is going to take a booth at The Portland Flower Show ( March 7 -11. ) The member response has already been quite enthusiastic, so if you have interest in contributing items to our booth, helping to set up, or manning the booth during the course of the show, please contact edesimone@goosefareantiques.com or call 207-284-8657. The Flower Show is always a great attraction and participating in this venture should be a really enjoyable experience.
MADA has also decided to participate in The Maine Home & Design Show which will take place June 30 & July 1 in an oversized tent on the grounds of The Camden Hills Regional High School in Rockport. This will be another opportunity for MADA members to show their wares in a different venue and, hopefully, attract some new buyers to the world of antiques, as attendees see how well antiques complement their interior design schemes. If you wish to take part in, and/or assist with this show, please contact the above listed email or phonenumber.
Both the Flower Show and the Design Show offer the chance for MADA members to have exposure to new and different audiences and to attract new customers. We are eager to grow the antique business ( our application to The Common Ground Fair will soon be pending ) and welcome any suggestions members or the general public may have.
September 2011
Perfect weather welcomed dealers and buyers to the 14th Annual Coastal Maine Antiques Show at Roundtop Farm in Damariscotta on August 31. The Maine Antiques Digest supplied dealers and buyers with breakfast treats as lots of people took their tour of the tents and indoor dealers. Those that went on to Brimfield did not fare so well with the weather.
SAVE THE DATE: The annual luncheon meeting of MADA will be held on October 12, place and time to be announced shortly. We have some interesting things to talk about, including a place to hold a Dealer Show.
New members include Julian Katz Antiques, Waterville. Me., S. B Adams Antiques, Marblehead, Mass., “ Interiors with Provinvnce” Biddeford, Me. and Brennan & Mouilleseaux, Northfield, CT.
