A lot has happened in our MADA world and months have flown by since our Spring Sampler publication.
I am very pleased to report that our Membership status is very strong with over 280 members since the announcement of our new "antique show" “Antique's in the Gardens" partnering with the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. In the last year, MADA has certainly taken a major turn upward as far as awareness for our dealers. Our dues membership officially closed
We have had 2 successful shows this year with strong advertising on all fronts. Our July summer show at the Botanical Gardens is a wonderful success story. I would like to thank Deb Schaeffer for taking on the role as our Show Manager and what a great job she did. Deb worked with both organizations and coordinated all aspects producing a beautiful show with 44 dealers on the grounds of the Maine Botanical Gardens with Martha Stewart as our guest and Honorary Chair. In addition, I want to thank our Kim Washam for the exemplary role that she played in driving our advertising campaign for this show. We had strong press both prior and on site covering our show and it continues as we have been a spotlight and in the eyes of many organizations. I am pleased to report that we have set a date for next years Botanical Show for July 23, 24 and 25. Communication will be forthcoming as we start the planning of 2009 show. A special thanks goes to Marion Redlon for producing a beautiful Program/Show Catalog that again produced a profit for our show. I can go on and on and say thank you to many people, especially our Board members for the amount of time that went into producing this show and Polly Thibodeau, Shirley Ussery & Sue Hopkins for their assistance in logistics during the show.
Our August Coastal Show, (formerly Roundtop) continues to “reign” as a popular summer event. Another sunny and unbeatable day, with 120 of our MADA dealers exhibiting. This year’s show was managed by

Also in November, before the snow birds go south, we will host an education seminar for the benefit of our members. As we all know, the antique industry has changed dramatically and many of our dealers are having a hard time maintaining their business.
Dave Krashes, a retired CEO of the MMR Group and avid antique collector, formed a task force with many of our trade of auctioneers, publishers, show managers and dealers to come up with an idea of helping antique dealers stay alive. The focus is to promote the fun of collecting, making antiques affordable and the idea of finding new collectors for our antiques trade. With the input from the task force, Dave produced a brochure and is providing educational seminars throughout the
