grants
In 1998, the MADA Board of Directors established an endowment fund – the Education and Community Grants Program – to promote education in, and knowledge of, historical Maine arts and decorative arts. The endowment fund, which is supported through revenues from events produced by MADA, is a way for MADA members to support our larger Maine community, its citizens, and its art and historic institutions.

Guidelines for MADA Grants

The Endowment Committee is a standing committee of the MADA Board of Directors. It is composed of the Chairperson, appointed by the MADA President, and at least one other member of MADA.
To participate in the program, an individual or organization should request a copy of the grant application from the Chairperson of the MADA Endowment Committee, whose name mailing address, and telephone/FAX number is listed below. All requests for assistance will be considered and all requests will be acted upon and replied to.

Eligibility: MADA grants are available for the following purposes:

-
To help with the restoration of a historically significant building or item pertaining to Maine;
-
Educational projects or studies concerning the history of Maine, including items needed to document the above restorations;
-
Items needed to complete a study or collection for historical societies or museums; and
-
Other projects if they serve the need to educate or save for posterity Maine antiques and its history.
Each application must be sponsored by a MADA member in good standing, and that MADA member should be fully informed as to the nature of the request and be willing to present the request before the Endowment Committee, and the Board of Directors, if necessary. Applications that include the opportunity to match MADA's grant funds will be welcomed. The amount of the grant award will be determined on the merits of the intended use of grant funds

Upon receipt of a properly completed application, the Chairperson of the Endowment Committee will convene the committee for the purpose of review and recommendation to the Board of Directors.

All grant applications must be approved/disapproved by the Board of Directors of MADA at the meeting following receipt of the application by the Endowment Committee Chairperson. Applicants will be informed of the Board's decision after such meeting. The decision of the Board on each application is final
